FIRE BOARD APPROVES FISCAL YEAR 2008/2009 PROPOSED BUDGET At the regularly scheduled April Fire Board meeting on May 15, 2008, the Fire District of Sun City West Fire Board approved its Fiscal Year 2008/2009 PROPOSED budget which will take effect on July 1, 2008 and run through June 30, 2009. The Fire District Board of Directors spent many hours reviewing and revising the proposed budget during several open public workshops. This enabled them to arrive at the most reasonable and cost effective budget possible to maintain the current quality of service to the residents of the Sun City West Fire District. The final public hearing and budget adoption will be held at the regularly scheduled Fire District Board of Directors' meeting scheduled for June 19, 2008.

FIRE STATION 101 OPEN HOUSE The Fire District will be sponsoring an Open House on Friday, May 16, 2008, at the newly renovated Fire Station 101 located at 19001 Camino Del Sol. The event will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. There will be free refreshments served throughout the morning. Please take this opportunity to come and visit with your local firefighters and view the newly renovated station of which the community can be very proud. FIRE DISTRICT GOVERNING BOARD 2008 ELECTIONS The Fire District is governed by a five member non-partisan board elected at large by the registered voters of the District. Board members are elected to alternating four-year terms so there are at least two members elected every two years. The next Fire District Board Election will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2008. The Fire District’s registered voters will be electing three directors to fill four-year terms. If you are interesting in running as a candidate for this election, election packets can be obtained from the Maricopa County Elections Department, If you would like additional information regarding the upcoming election, please contact the Fire District Administrative Offices at (623) 584-3500 or the Maricopa County Elections Department at (602) 506-3535. GOVERNING BOARD ADOPTS RESOLUTION TO AMEND THE ADOPTED FIRE CODE TO CREATE A FIRE CODE VIOLATION - CITATION PROGRAM During the duly noticed regular meeting of the Fire Board on November 15, 2007, the Governing Board voted in favor of creating a Fire Code Violation - Citation Program. Welcome to the Official Website of the Fire District of Sun City West The Sun City West Fire District is an ISO Class 2 career fire department with 73 uniformed and 10 civilian employees. The District was formed in 1981 and has grown to protect roughly 40,000 residents within an approximate 25 square mile area (Service Area Map). The District provides fire protection, emergency medical service, hazardous materials response, technical rescue, disaster preparedness and response, public assistance / non-emergency response, fire cause determination and investigation, fire code enforcement and inspection, public education, public and media information, planning and development, and other support services. The personnel of the Financial Services Section are responsible for administering and managing all financial systems of the Fire District while maintaining compliance with governmental regulations and mandated standards. This Section is commanded by the Fire Chief. Section Goals: To maintain an accurate, stable, efficient, and successful financial system through responsible management and aggressive forecasting combined with creative revenue generation, cost saving, and cost recovery strategies. The Public Education Program for the Fire District is an ongoing effort designed to keep our residents and businesses up to date with the latest fire and safety information. Businesses - The Fire District works very closely with the business community in an attempt to provide a safe environment for employees and customers. The District provides different types of employee training on what to do in case of an emergency. Residents - Training such as fire extinguisher use, CPR, first-aid, automatic external defibrillator (AED), fall prevention and home safety planning are just a few of the training topics available for our residents throughout the year.
